Stephen Weinstein graduated from Cooper Union where he majored in Graphic Design and studied photography with Hans Beckman.
He has spent his professional life as a Creative Director and
Art Director and has always had a passion for photographing the great outdoors.
In the last few years, he has turned his attention indoors, to still life photography. He has been intrigued with the array of subtle color palettes and sensual forms found in both common and exotic fruits and vegetables.
Steve’s unique photographic style is a marriage of modern design combined with a painterly historic aesthetic. The backgrounds are dark with subjects appearing to be candlelit, reminiscent of the great Northern European still life painters of the 17th century. He has also been influenced by the composition and palette of Cezanne’s impressionistic style.
Steve lives in New Paltz, NY where he shops at local farms, and Farmers’ Markets in the area.
